El rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L.) es un frutal tropical originario de Asia e introducido a México. Es cultivado principalmente en el estado de Chiapas pero su comercialización es limitada por una corta vida en anaquel, oscurecimiento del pericarpio y enfermedades postcosecha. Los objetivos de este trabajo fueron: 1) caracterizar frutos de cinco selecciones de rambután procedentes del estado de Chiapas; 2) estudiar el efecto de una cera y dos atmósferas modificadas a temperatura ambiente y refrigeración sobre la calidad visual y vida en anaquel de los frutos y 3) identificar el agente causal de la mancha negra del rambutan en postcosecha. Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate cold storage periods and postharvest longevity of the seedless table grape 'BRS Vitória' subjected to the application of the disease-resistance inducer acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM). Bunches were treated or not with 1% ASM, placed individually in plastic clamshell trays and stored in a cold chamber at 2±1ºC, at a high relative humidity, for three periods (30, 45, and 60 days), followed by a 5-day period of shelf life in plastic clamshells, at 22±2ºC. Abstract Sapodilla (Manilkara zapota (L.) P. Royen) is a climacteric fruit, very perishable, with high metabolic activity, rapid ripening and reduced storage time at room temperature, thus making difficult its commercialization. However, this research aimed to evaluate the effect of potassium permanganate (KMnO4) on the quality and post-harvest conservation of sapodilla fruit under modified atmosphere at room temperature. The sapodilla fruits were harvested when they reached physiological maturity and then accommodated in Styrofoam trays with PVC film coating. ABSTRACT: Sanitization using chemical agents to reduce the microbiological load on the surface of agricultural products have the drawback of leaving residues. Conversely, physical treatments, such as ultraviolet radiation C (UV-C), are residue-free, non-toxic and environmentally friendly. Ripe figs are perishable, exhibiting an epidermis with low resistance to mechanical treatment, high water content and the ostiole, which is an open door that expedites undesirable microorganism penetration.
